01 / A little of everything

YOUR DAY / A little of everything Different interests. One good day. Give everyone a say without turning the day into a timetable. Allow A relaxed half day Pace Gentle, with optional extras Plan around Choose one shared outing 01 Pick a village afternoon, mini golf, or a museum visit your group will enjoy. 02 Add lunch or a coffee stop nearby; let the keen explorers take an extra wander. 03 Come home for dinner and a little friendly competition.

02 / A trail & a view

YOUR DAY / A trail & a view Let the walk be the main event. Choose the reward first: a lakeshore, a waterfall, or a view you will remember. Allow Half day to a full day Pace Match the route to the group Plan around Distance, elevation & access 01 Compare walks by distance, effort, and time, including the drive. 02 Pack lunch and layers, check the actual trailhead conditions, and leave time to turn around. 03 Keep the evening simple: barbecue, a soak, and stories from the day.

03 / Time by the water

YOUR DAY / Time by the water Take lunch. Leave the hurry. A paddle, a shoreline picnic, or a few patient casts. They do not have to share the same plan. Allow A few hours to a full day Pace Shoreline pause or active outing Plan around Access, weather & equipment 01 Choose a destination that fits the activity: swimming, paddling, fishing, or simply sitting by the water. 02 Check the destination guide for access and facilities; arrange equipment and review any activity-specific rules. 03 Bring lunch, give the group room to spread out, and return while the day still feels easy.

04 / A round with friends

YOUR DAY / A round with friends Build the day around the tee time. Make the course the anchor, then give the rest of the trip room to happen. Allow A round, plus travel & warm-up Pace Choose tees & format together Plan around Tee times & course policies 01 Compare the five local eighteen-hole courses and reserve the round you want most. 02 Give nongolfers their own village, lake, or lunch plan, then agree on where to meet. 03 Bring everyone back for a shared meal and one more game in the pool hall.

05 / A slower afternoon

YOUR DAY / A slower afternoon A little town time. No big agenda. Sometimes the right plan is a good coffee, one interesting stop, and time to notice where you are. Allow A flexible two or three hours Pace Gentle; choose your walking Plan around Opening days & meal times 01 Start with a café or lunch stop in Graeagle, Blairsden, or Portola. 02 Choose a shop, short walk, local story, or brewery visit instead of trying to fit them all in. 03 Return early enough to enjoy the Lodge, with dinner plans as simple or special as you like.

06 / A day at the Lodge

YOUR DAY / A day at the Lodge The stay is part of the trip. Keep an open day for your own people. A full itinerary is entirely optional. Allow As long as you like Pace Set your own pace Plan around Supplies for meals together 01 Start with coffee and a breakfast that nobody needs to rush. 02 Bring out a game, cook something together, or claim a comfortable corner with a book. 03 If the weather invites you outside, add a short outing. THE USEFUL LITTLE DETAILS

THE USEFUL LITTLE DETAILS

A little planning.
A better getaway.

A little planning.
A better getaway.

When should we visit?

Summer brings lake days and longer outdoor itineraries. Spring and fall offer a different pace, with weather-dependent access and changing business schedules. Winter calls for a flexible mountain plan. Check forecasts, roads, and the specific activities you hope to do close to your trip.

Can we stock up nearby?

Portola has grocery and essentials shopping for meals at the Lodge. For a large group, specialty ingredients, or a late arrival, plan the main shop before reaching the house and bring what you need for the first evening and morning. Confirm delivery availability rather than depending on it.

How much should we plan each day?

Choose one main outing, add a nearby meal or easy stop, and leave breathing room. Mountain drives, parking, changing conditions, and a group moving at different speeds all take time. A slower afternoon at the Lodge is part of the trip, too.

What should we check before heading out?

Confirm current opening days, reservations, road and trail access, and seasonal restrictions with the business or managing agency. Our guides help with planning; live conditions and schedules can change.
