THE WHOLE AFTERNOON

The Brewing Lair

Settle at an outdoor table among the pines, add a picnic or seasonal food-truck meal, and make an afternoon of it. Cornhole, a slackline, and the nine-hole disc-golf course give the group room to play; the meadow stage hosts seasonal live music. Check the current music and food schedules before going.

A LITTLE LOCAL DINING WISDOM

For ten around a table,
a little notice goes a long way.

Small dining rooms, seasonal kitchens, and wedding weekends shape eating out here. Call early for the meal that matters most, and keep a good takeout or cook-at-home option in reserve.

BEFORE YOU MAKE THE PLAN

A few useful answers.

Where should a group start for an easy dinner?

Mountain Pizza and Gumba’s are useful takeout starting points; Box Car combines pub food and drinks. For a sit-down dinner, compare Cuccia’s, Grizzly Grill, and Longboards, then call about a table for your group.

Where can we go for beer or wine?

The Brewing Lair suits an outdoor brewery afternoon; Ronin offers a smaller taproom experience. Lost Sierra Wine Co. has a Blairsden Wine Garden. The Peak is an adults-only wine, beer, and cigar bar. Check food and event schedules separately.

Which places are worth planning a special dinner around?

Consider Cuccia’s, Fifty44, The Iron Door, or Lakeside Dining at Sardine Lake Resort. The Bear and the Butterfly and The Drifter’s Table are additional guidebook choices. Make reservations directly and allow time for the drive.

Can we rely on delivery or late-night food?

Plan on pickup unless the restaurant explicitly confirms delivery to the Lodge. Many kitchens close earlier than city visitors expect. Bring the first evening’s essentials or arrange your meal before arriving late.

Is Sierra Smokeshow still a regular restaurant stop?

The updated Lodge guide notes a shift to catering and events after September 27, 2026. Public pop-ups may still occur, but published restaurant hours can lag. Contact the team directly rather than driving over expecting regular service.
