Nature walk · 1.1 mi · 81 ft · 30–60 min
A short paved trail leads through high-elevation forest and granite country to a developed overlook across the canyon from Frazier Falls. Snowmelt gives the waterfall its strongest flow, while the forest, granite, and canyon views make the walk worthwhile beyond peak runoff.
The approach: The signed Frazier Falls parking area off Gold Lake Road
Along the way: A wide, paved trail crossing Frazier Creek before reaching a developed viewing area above the falls. Granite, high-elevation forest, wildflowers, and expansive views make the walk enjoyable even when the waterfall is flowing lightly.
Host tip: Visit during late spring or early summer for the strongest snowmelt-fed flow. Continue afterward into the Lakes Basin Recreation Area or pair the walk with a lake day at Gold Lake. • • • •
Before you go: The trail is wheelchair- and stroller-accessible when the pavement is dry and clear, but snow can cover the trail and limit road access well into spring. Later in summer, the waterfall may become a smaller cascade, while the overlook and granite canyon remain beautiful.
