Nature walk · Short walk · Gentle path · 20–40 min
Catfish Cove offers a gentle introduction to Lake Davis for guests who want beautiful lake scenery without committing to the longer Lake Davis Trail. The accessible path begins along County Road 126, crosses the main recreation trail, and continues toward a small knoll overlooking the water. A picnic table at the viewpoint provides an inviting place to sit, watch the lake, and look across toward a small wooded island when water levels are high.
The approach: County Road 126, approximately one mile east of the primary Lake Davis Trail trailhead
Along the way: A gentle path leading through the lakeside environment to an overlook and picnic table. Spring brings wildflowers, while the lake and surrounding forest attract waterfowl, raptors, deer, and other wildlife throughout the year.
Host tip: Make Catfish Cove part of a larger Lake Davis day. Continue to one of the fishing-access points, launch a kayak, or pick up rentals and supplies from J&J’s Grizzly Store.
Before you go: Lake Davis weather can change quickly, and afternoon winds are common. Even for a short walk, bring a layer and sun protection. Check current surface and access conditions if you need an accessible route.
