Quincy
Build confidence beneath the trees. 3–10 mi sample loops; Easy to advanced by loop.
LOCAL PHOTOGRAPH / THE LOST SIERRA
South Park is Quincy’s lower-elevation riding counterpart to Mount Hough. Short loops help newer riders develop skills, while longer connections add rock, climbing, and time beside Spanish Creek.
Distance: 3–10 mi sample loops
Effort: Easy to advanced by loop
Climbing/descending: 300–1,400 ft by loop
Allow: Choose the loop first
From the Lodge: 45–55 min
Bike: Conventional mountain bike
Plan: Start with Deer Trail: about 3 miles and 300 feet of climbing. Monument Peak from Barlow is about 6.5 miles and 800 feet, with a steep section and rocky creek bed. Flume–Cascade is about 10 miles and 1,400 feet, with harder sections.
Host tip: Ask Yuba Expeditions for a current map and choose the whole loop for the least-experienced rider.
Before you ride: South Park does not permit e-bikes. A short connector can change the difficulty substantially.
