LOCAL PHOTOGRAPH / THE LOST SIERRA
A lower-elevation loop combines road climbing with Chandler, Fireline, Berry Creek, and Huffleberry connections. It is a useful self-powered introduction without committing to the summit.
Distance: About 11 mi
Effort: Substantial self-powered ride
Climbing/descending: About 1,900 ft climbing
Allow: Allow a substantial half-day
From the Lodge: 45–55 min to Quincy
Bike: Trail mountain bike
Plan: Use the exact Low Elevation Hough Loop from the local route collection. It starts and finishes near the first parking area on Mount Hough Road; confirm the current alignment and parking.
Host tip: Choose this before attempting a full summit climb if you are learning the mountain.
Before you ride: Lower elevation does not make it a beginner ride. Different low-elevation itineraries have different mileage and climbing.
